I met up with Ashley and Henry on the last sunny and semi warm weekend we will probably see for awhile...we went for a little tour of their west side neighborhood and a bit on the downtown side too. I am really excited for their wedding next June which promises to be exactly what I have been yearning to photograph for quite sometime, but I won't give it away here. These two are the most adorable couple, complete naturals in front of the camera, and just the nicest people I have been around in awhile!

[a couple of kids I know well]
In my experiences, being a photographer is almost always a really fun job. Some people will say that they could never do it, but if you are sharing in the happiness of the day, whether a wedding or just hanging out with a family, everything seems to work. There is one exception to this, and that is photographing my own children. Is it because I have higher standards? Is it because they will listen to everyone else generally, except for me when I am trying to capture the images floating around in my head? This year they really surprised me. We went to Tifft on a 65 degree day and just had fun. I allowed them to be them without too much directing, and I think it really worked! Here are a few from our adventure....

[owen, elliot, anna and liam, revisited.]
Just about a year after I met them, I was able to catch up with this wonderful family once again. This time we played at Delaware Park, where they showed me their acting, yoga and their throwing skills. Another gorgeous November Day in Buffalo.
Liam, right after Mater decided to go for a swim in Hoyt Lake....the boy has a good arm!

This last picture I have to admit was one of those happy accidents- the kids wanted to see how my camera worked and I allowed them one by one to press the button. I am not sure who took it, but there's a budding photographer in the works for sure!

[carla and johnny]
Like each of the weddings I photographed this season, my final wedding of the season was definitely long awaited. It was my first chance to get inside the newly renovated Lafayette Hotel, and to work with another awesome couple. I met up with them Friday after their rehearsal for a little jaunt downtown and was treated to a little sneak peek of the wedding day ahead...
The next day at the Lafayette did not disappoint. The rooms there have a great urban vibe; of course they were designed by my favorite local store, Room. Both the guys and girls were getting ready there so I was able to catch some of th4e action in both places.
Then we went over to the Chapel at Canisius (which I have been shooting at quite a lot lately...) for the ceremony and some fun shots afterwards, including the houses that both Johnny and Carla lived in during those college years.
Back at the hotel I was able to explore a lot of the building in addition to using it as a backdrop...what an amazing Buffalo story.
