I was introduced to the Boyers through two dear friends of mine....their daughter, Hannah has leukemia and was in town for a short time, away from her treatments at St. Jude in Memphis, and my friends had asked me to photograph the family. Christmas Eve turned out to be the best day, and it just so happened that while I was there, Hannah had a visit from Santa! Hannah and her brother, Asher got to spend a lot of time with Santa and received some pretty awesome gifts as well. Hannah's whole family was there to enjoy the visit too, before Hannah and her mom, Chandra make the return trip to Memphis in a few days. For me it was an amazing experience to spend time with such a joyous and hopeful family on Christmas Eve. Hannah is such a spitfire- so smart and playful. Her brother, Asher is incredibly sweet and patient, even when being called "little tiny brother" over and over again. The rest of the family embodies so much strength and love despite the difficulties they have endured. The Boyers do have a Go Fund Me page; I do hope you will visit it and share it widely: https://www.gofundme.com/hannahboyer
Merry Christmas!!

{the Lenihan Family}
Yesterday afternoon I photographed one of my favorite families, the Lenihans. Our sons have been friends forever, so it was really fun to get to work with people with whom I am really close. We decided to explore Silo City, a once abandoned grain elevator "neighborhood", if you will, that has been used more recently as a film set to both "The Purge 4" and "The True Adventures of Wolfboy", along with many cultural events such as Music is Art. There are a lot of remnants of art mixed in with old machine parts and brick that make it an amazing place to photograph (with permission!). So much history here...we got the grand tour along with a little insight to the best places to photograph, as well as a peek at the SS Columbia! It was the perfect place to capture the essence of this family- a bit eclectic and in love with our city!
