on probably the most perfect day EVER, I met erin and jeff at knox farms for a pretty intense engagement shoot.....we explored every corner of the park (legally and somewhat illegally), embraced nature at its finest (black flies!) and finally saved some wildlife from their uncertain fate with oncoming traffic. erin and jeff were great at knowing how to work with the camera....erin revealed to me that she prepped by looking at other engagement shoots....which by the way is invaluable advice for anyone who is about to be photographed (or in my case who is about to be the photographer...I look at countless other photographers for inspiration all the time!) enjoy....

[a photographer's dream photoshoot]
Sophia was the flower girl in her cousin Nicole's wedding two weeks ago.....it was my first excuse to be able to "stalk" the flower girl at a wedding without getting into trouble :) The best part was that she did not need much prompting to give me some great material. The wedding was in Ohio; we went to Mill Creek Park in Youngstown for the formals....what an amazing place...I wish we had something similar to this in Buffalo! After almost falling into a fountain and a taking more than a few tumbles into the grass, Sophia's dress was no worse for the wear and I was pretty happy with my images.
Sophia was all business....one petal at a time and she never once looked up....I think she was nervous!
I love this shot- so very Alice in Wonderland!
Sophia was setting the standard for posing......
So this shot was a little risky....but totally worth it.

[sue and matt]
My friend suzanne had sent Sue and Matt my way....what a lovely couple! Matt is a bit of an architecture buff, so what better venue than downtown Buffalo? We met at Pearl Street Brewery and took a walking tour of some of the more interesting artectural elements around town. It was actually pretty darn chilly- a nice breeze off of the lake made us shiver a bit (it seems like more than merely a week since our shoot, as it was 80 today!) but we had a great time nonetheless.

[mr. and mrs. p]
I will have to mark this as a first....I was recently asked to help out at Westminster Early Childhood Program, my children's "school", for a photographic project for their upcoming art auction and wine tasting. After tossing around a few different ideas, we decided to work with some studio portraiture on none other than Mr. Potato Head! The kids each had a chance to set up their shots, choosing their favorite potato props and backgrounds. I did a little Lightroom tinkering to the images....and now they are ready to be framed as a group to be auctioned off. If only I have people sized backdrops such as these!

[stefanie and tony]
and the engagement sessions are quickly adding up! I met up with stefanie and tony for a photo shoot at the botannical gardens for a great sunshiny photo shoot....we came across this very cool terra cotta wall that I just couldn't get enough of.....so many possibilities in one location!
Also, for this post (and perhaps subsequent posts) I have decided to go with the monster sized pics- I'd love some feedback- is it too much?

[kathryn and travis]
On a very sunny but VERY cold Sunday, Kathryn and Travis were married....I don't think I have ever experienced such an enthusiastic congregation of people prior to the ceremony and throughout the rest of the evening.....lots of really good energy to start them off right! Their ceremony was at Kingdom Hall in Orchard Park and their reception was at the Millenium Hotel in Cheektowaga. And perhaps my new favorite location to photograph for the moment anyway- Chestnut Ridge Park.
